Ingredients
  • 8 slices of bread (preferable thick cut)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Salt to taste. Suggest ½ teaspoon.
 
Preparation
  • Beat the eggs. Add the milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract and salt. Mix together.
  • Soak the bread slices in the mixture.
  • Fry the soaked bread on one side until golden brown, then turn and fry until the other side is golden brown.
  • Serve.

     

 
Additional Notes

If possible, use bread that is somewhat stale rather than fresh bread. It is more authentic and it will absorb the egg and milk mixture better.
